Role Summary
As a Structural Engineer, you will review structural designs for concrete and steel structures in compliance with UAE authority codes, IATA ADRM, ICAO Annexes, and international standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, EN-BS, IBC).
The Structural Engineer is responsible for assessing the technical integrity of completed designs and ensuring that construction works are executed in accordance with the approved design intent during the construction supervision phase.
Line & Staff Relations
The Structural Engineer reports directly to the Resident Engineer / Senior Structural Engineer (Consulting/Site Supervision). He/She collaborates with:
• Multidisciplinary teams (Architecture, MEP, Special Systems).
• Contractors, consultants, and sub-consultants.
• Authorities Having Jurisdiction (Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, GCAA, etc.).
• Project Managers and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design Review & Approval
Review completed structural design drawings, calculations, and technical documents.
Ensure compliance with UAE codes, IATA/ICAO standards, and project specifications.
Assess constructability and coordination across disciplines prior to construction.
Provide technical comments and recommendations on design submissions.
Construction Supervision
Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and as-built documents.
Attend site inspections, factory visits, and witness testing where required.
Prepare technical comments on NCRs, IRs, and material approvals.
Monitor on-site quality, progress, and contractor compliance.
Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
Support claims review with Contract Advisors when required.
Supervise and guide inspectors/surveyors during construction.
Coordination & Technical Support
Coordinate structural works with architectural, MEP, and infrastructure disciplines.
Manage RFIs, design clarifications, and site instructions.
Resolve site-related structural issues and ensure proper implementation.
Quality & Reporting
Apply QA/QC controls on all submissions and site works.
Monitor deliverables of draftsmen and sub-consultants for compliance.
Contribute to weekly and monthly project progress reports.
Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements
Experience
10+ years of experience including site supervision and management consulting experience (mandatory).
Minimum 5 years experience in the Middle East (mandatory).
Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects in the Middle East (mandatory).
Airport project experience is an advantage (not mandatory).
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering (Master’s advantageous).
Memberships & Certifications
UAE Society of Engineers membership preferred.
Abu Dhabi / Dubai engineering license preferred but not mandatory.
PE or equivalent certification preferred but not mandatory.
Knowledge
International codes (ASCE-7, ACI 318, AISC 360, EN-BS, IBC).
UAE codes and authority requirements.
Geotechnical principles and construction practices.
Software Skills (2025 Updated)
Etabs, SAFE, SAP2000, Robot.
AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), Navisworks.
MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio).
Soft Skills
Strong analytical mindset, coordination, and communication skills.
Ability to manage site challenges and work within multidisciplinary teams.
