INSPECTOR – PLUMBING & FIREFIGHTING (Management Consulting / Site Supervision)

Role Summary
Responsible for performing site inspections on plumbing and firefighting systems to ensure compliance with approved drawings, contract documents, UAE authority codes, NFPA standards, IATA/ICAO requirements, and international best practices.
The Inspector ensures that all works are executed in line with the approved design intent, maintaining quality, safety, and regulatory compliance at all times.
This is a fully site-based role supporting the construction supervision phase.
Line and Staff Relations
The Inspector reports to the Resident Engineer / Mechanical Engineer (Consulting/Site Supervision) and coordinates with:
• Site supervision team (Engineers and Inspectors)
• Contractors and subcontractors
• QA/QC teams
• Statutory authorities (Civil Defense, Municipality, GCAA, etc.)
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Compliance
Attend and respond to all inspection requests (IRs) related to plumbing and firefighting works.
Inspect piping systems including water supply, drainage, and firefighting networks.
Verify installation of pumps, tanks, valves, sprinklers, hydrants, and associated systems.
Ensure works are executed in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and Engineer’s Instructions.
Ensure compliance with UAE codes, Civil Defense requirements, and NFPA standards.
Quality Control
Assess workmanship, materials, and installation quality.
Verify that materials and equipment are as per approved submittals.
Witness pressure testing, flushing, hydrostatic tests, and system commissioning.
Raise Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) for non-compliant works.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily inspection reports, logs, and photographic records.
Record and report defects, non-compliance, and site issues.
Ensure proper documentation of all inspection activities.
Progress & Coordination
Monitor progress of plumbing and firefighting works.
Coordinate with engineers to ensure timely inspections and approvals.
Highlight risks, delays, and quality issues to the supervision team.
Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements.
Identify unsafe practices related to pressurized systems and site works and report immediately.
Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements
Experience
Minimum 5+ years as Plumbing / Firefighting Inspector on large-scale infrastructure projects in the Middle East (mandatory).
Minimum 5 years experience in the Middle East (mandatory).
Experience on site supervision and management consulting experience (mandatory).
Airport project experience is an advantage (not mandatory).
Education
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Knowledge
UAE authority requirements (Civil Defense, Municipality, GCAA).
NFPA standards and firefighting system requirements.
Plumbing systems including water supply, drainage, and irrigation.
Testing and commissioning procedures.
Software Skills
AutoCAD (basic).
MS Office (Word, Excel).
QA/QC and inspection reporting tools.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and reporting skills.
Attention to detail and quality focus.
Ability to work in a site-based environment.
