Role Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer you support the design review, approval, and construction supervision phases, including technical advice, field coordination, and supervision of construction activities.
Ensure compliance with UAE authority codes, IATA/ICAO aviation standards, NFPA, ASHRAE, and international best practices, and verify that all works are executed in line with the approved design intent.
Line & Staff Relations
The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Resident Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer (Consulting/Site Supervision). He/She collaborates with:
• Teams of MEP engineers, architects, and engineers of other disciplines.
• Contractors and consultants on-site.
• Statutory authorities (Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense, DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, GCAA, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Design Review & Approval
Review and approve completed mechanical design drawings, calculations, and technical documents.
Ensure compliance with UAE authority codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, IATA ADRM, and ICAO standards.
Assess constructability and coordination across disciplines prior to construction.
Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and ITPs.
Site Management & Supervision
Monitor and supervise HVAC, plumbing, and firefighting works for quality and compliance.
Inspect materials delivered on site to ensure conformity with approved submittals.
Conduct site inspections and walkthroughs; report issues to the Resident / Senior Mechanical Engineer.
Verify that works are executed in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
Record and report daily progress of works.
Assist in snagging, re-snagging, testing, and commissioning.
Review and recommend approval of as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
Quality Management
Review, approve, and process shop drawings and technical submittals.
Issue and close NCRs for non-conforming works.
Monitor corrective actions proposed by contractors.
Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and project specifications.
Coordination & Technical Support
Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve site-related technical issues.
Manage RFIs, site instructions, and design clarifications during construction.
Ensure proper integration of mechanical systems with electrical, civil, and ICT systems.
Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with project HSE plan.
Coordinate with HSE team on mechanical works execution.
Digital & BIM Support
Use BIM-based coordination tools for clash detection and site coordination.
Support updating of as-built models and documentation.
Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements
Experience
8–10 years of experience including site supervision and management consulting experience (mandatory).
Minimum 5 years experience in the Middle East (mandatory).
Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects in the Middle East (mandatory).
Airport project experience is an advantage (not mandatory).
Education
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s advantageous).
Memberships & Certifications
Memberships (ASHRAE / CIBSE / ASME) preferred.
LEED / BREEAM or similar certifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
Knowledge
UAE authority requirements (Dubai Municipality, DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, Civil Defense, GCAA).
International standards (NFPA, ASHRAE, ISO, IATA ADRM, ICAO Annexes).
Mechanical systems: HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, testing & commissioning.
Software Skills (2025 Updated)
Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Navisworks.
Familiarity with CFD and energy modeling tools (preferred).
Collaboration platforms: BIM 360, Primavera Cloud.
Soft Skills
Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a site-based environment.
Fluent in English (additional languages an advantage).
